Subscribing to multiple sensor inputs inside NAV2 Costmap plugin

I am trying to synchronously subscribe to multiple sensor inputs like lidar laserscan and RGB image inside my custom NAV2 Costmap plugin. What is the correct way to this. I went to the costmap plugin example on the NAV2 documentation but it was of little use.
