Cheap RGBD camera with integrated IMU and ROS drivers

Hi

I would like to use low cost RGBD camera with integrated 9-axis IMU that work on small computer such as Panda (LattePanda) and has ROS driver so can be used with Ubuntu 22 and ROS1 or ROS2 either. I prefer prize around 100 USD. I have done some search and find this options

  1. Stereo Camera for Depth Vision, Sony IMX219-83 8MP Binocular Camera Module, Inbuilt 9 axis IMU ICM20948. But couldnt find any ROS driver and not sure can run on Ubuntu and LattePanda

  2. Intel RealSense T265. from compatibility point of view is ok but prize wise would prefer something cheaper

  3. Xsens MTi-30. Its not stereo camera but can be integrated with low-cost stereo . So might not be the best choice

  4. Intel RealSense D435i. Prize also not really low-cost

  5. ZED mini.

  6. OAK-D (OpenCC AI Kit with Depth) . Also prize not around 100 USD

Any help or recommendation of low cost RGBD cameras with IMU available in the market?

Help

Hi there,

I have worked with both ZED 2/mini and OAK-D kits. But since you are looking for cheap options for RGBD, you should definitely go for the OAK-D lite cameras which come at around $149. These are widely available and have great community support.

One advantage would be the on-device inferencing for CV capabilities and also has a 6-axis BMI270 IMU. Also, they have support for both ROS 1 and ROS 2.

I think there is even a cheaper RGBD camera with integrated 9 -axis IMU and its around $100 . But forgot the brand name. Also this OAK-D doesn't have 9-axis IMU but 6-axis

I can not find it. So the OAK-D has 6 axis IMU? Not 9-axis right? Do you know any version with 9-axis IMU?

Check out the OAK D Pro. It has BNO085, a 9-axis IMU. But the prize point is quiet high. https://docs.luxonis.com/projects/hardware/en/latest/pages/DM9098pro/#integrated-imu
